Think of Website design as the wrapping of your online presence. That’s pretty strong language for designers, but a Website “Look” is only as useful as the message within the template itself. Let’s use a food analogy: To make a burrito you need more than the tortilla. You’ve got to load it with yummy ingredients!

Content is the main dish that defines what your business or service is about. It controls the narrative of the story. It supersedes everything. The content is created using Video, Graphics, Copy Writing, Photography, or Audio elements. Search engine optimization and keywords follow.

My content development work is custom-created for each client. During the development process, the client and I agree on the appropriate content medium to tell the story.

  • Yes. I have produced shows for cable television and Home Theaters; currently finding their voice on the Motor Trend Network. I worked with SPIKE and Outdoor Channel for 6 seasons as a series Producer.

    Clients do request MP4 clips for YouTube and on-site displays at SEMA in Las Vegas. The video clips below will give you an idea of my YouTube work, although this is far from complete.

  • Yes, I offer post-production using both FCPX and Adobe Premier. Editing Rates are based on the project TRT and scope of overall ingested video. I also work with a team of experienced editors that handle Motion Graphics, DaVinci Resolve and other Animation programs.

  • My clients are primarily in Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange County. I do take on clients in other locations. Just drop me a line to discuss the primary project in detail, and the parameters of the content you are requesting. The benefit to the Web is that we are all connected!

  • Yes, While it is not a major part of my business structure I was recently accepted by Squarespace into their Circle Member Club.

  • I refer to Mainhouse Creative as a “boutique” lab.

    I wish I could be more detailed. But with a larger project, I might contract out to a team of specialists who work with me often. And, vice-versa; I also work with them on their projects requiring more team players. It’s very flexible in that regard and is an industry-standard practice.

    I have produced long-form video projects using 6 camera operators, 2 audio techs, 2 PAs and a total crew of 12. Those are like juggling balls in the air…

    I have also undertaken projects that require myself and an assistant.

    Every situation is different and dependent on the budget, and goals of the client.

    Writing and copy editing on the other hand is a solitary endeavor that I do at my home-office with my dog by my side.

  • Good question, but it’s not easy to answer. I offer a one hour consultation, where after learning what you need to satisfy your goal I can provide a rough estimate. The first hour of consultation is free to new clients.

    Copy writing, photography and video production is quoted after the consultation only.

  • Throughout my career I have always specialized in the type of content I produce. I started out as a career journalist for the Orange County Daily Pilot newspaper. I covered local news for other newspapers as well.

    I got involved from there with newsstand car enthusiast magazines. Years later, I began working with different consumer magazines catering to pet owners and outdoor enthusiasts. It’s always been cars, dogs and the outdoors.

Statistics show that if you sell products or services then digital content needs to be part of your marketing strategy. Not that you need to become an influencer (haha). You don’t. The amount of time people spend watching videos online is jaw-dropping! YouTube alone has 2.5 billion users. Converting even a percent of those views into sales for services and products puts you in command. How long does your video need to be? There’s a consensus among producers. A good average is under 2 minutes of run time.

There are absolutely reasons to exceed 2 minutes, but that doesn’t mean your engagement will be better. And, engagement is a critical element for e-commerce sites.

 
 

About Website design work: I have created and maintained WordPress sites, and others, but I’ve determined that the SQSP templates are most the stable, and adaptable.

They are also the most affordable and DIY-friendly. Open-source templates like WordPress can be riddled with technical issues, and plug-ins that corrupt and are vulnerable to hacks. As a SQSP Circle Member in good standing on the platform, I pass my discounts onto my clients.
