A Split-Tee
My wife is an artist. She paints Plein Air mostly. Ocean scenes and country fields. But one day after a trip to the border of Oregon from our home in Southern California we stopped by the Treffen Cruise. Dozens of air-cooled buses were making their way to Mexico to end their journey.
We spent hours looking at each bus and their unique characteristics. Before we left my wife Janey decided to check out a rusted old Split Window from the 1950s. It was obvious to me that the air-cooled buses resonated with her sense of art.
She must have studied this one lonely Splitty for another hour or two before deciding to talk to the owner and to take some photographs.
That’s the last I heard about it, and we went on our way.
Then a few months after arriving back home she presented me with this massive 42×42 inch oil painting of the Splitty we had seen in Oregon. I have that original large oil painting hanging in my office and love it.
This brings me to the reason for this post.
There are all styles of tee-shirts on the market for car enthusiasts, many of them nothing more than clip art and AI designs. I wear very few tee-shirts with car art. Most are boring. The same old thing.
So I got an idea to create a tee using Janey’s Splitty painting. Wow. This one is special. I knew that very few tee-shirt designs are created after original works of art like this Splitty. I’ll wear it everywhere because it’s like I’m walking around with her painting on my back.
Now I want a hoodie with the artwork on it too. Maybe with Vanagon T3.
I’ll have to see if she’s as excited about the idea as I am.
